Swimma Caps developed and sells products that promote diversity and recognizing that we all come in different shapes and sizes and including our hair and hairstyles. Swimma products include100% silicone swim caps for afro, braids, long hair, braids, locs, etc and satin lined shower caps that come in different sizes.
Founder Nomvuyo is a mother of 2 kids and stepmother to one. She is from South Africa and grew up during the apartheid years, a system of institutionalized racial segregation that existed in South Africa and South Africa from 1948 until the early 1990s. As a black woman, this left its mark. It armed her with a drive for social justice and a strong drive towards being inclusive. Being discriminated against, or simply excluded, because of who you are is an injustice that affects too many people. She started Swimma Caps as a result of this aiming to provide products for people who have traditionally not been catered for. Besides work, Nomvuyo love traveling, swimming and photography.
We have supported and continue to support various non-profit organizations and individuals around the world, that are working to improve the lives of others who would otherwise not afford to do it themselves. We mostly support in a form of donating swim caps and at times monetary donations to fundraising events. To name a few we have supported the following organizations. Special Olympics SA is sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities, providing year-round training and activities. The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa Water Safety drive. The are giving swimming lessons to children and adults from marginalized communities. Various swim schools who offer free lessons to marginalized individuals.
We have plans to launch a swimwear range that will include plus sizes in the future.
Sew Alpine products are made with durable materials and designed to last a long time. 99% of all materials used in Sew Alpine products are sourced from independent US distributors and most are manufactured in the USA. Products are laid out on fabric in such a way as to minimize waste, all scraps are saved and used for future projects. 90% of thread used is made from recycled materials.
Sew Alpine also repairs gear, clothing, and other goods in an effort to reduce the amount of stuff we all produce and breathe new life into the stuff we already have.

Within the next two years, there are plans to use 100% recycled fabric and thread, continue growing Sew Alpine's financial support for environmental initiatives, and significantly scale up repairs.
Our range of swim caps is designed for diverse hair types and hairstyles are 100% silicone. The swim caps come in different sizes and colors and are gender neutral, for tots to adults.
Our swim caps, shower caps and swimming goggles are for everyone. We have 7 different sizes that will fit straight hair, curly hair, braids, dreadlocks, long or short hair in different textures, etc. Our swimming goggles are designed with a longer strap that is adjustable for low and high volume hair or hairstyles
